Child protection
Our work is designed around young people. This page distinguishes the safeguards already confirmed from the fuller child protection policy still being developed.
Safeguards confirmed today
- Parent or guardian consent: participation involving a minor requires consent from a parent or legal guardian.
- Image authorization: identifiable photographs or video of a minor require separate parent or guardian authorization before public use.
The fuller policy is still being developed
The Foundation has not yet adopted a comprehensive child protection policy. Background screening, adult-to-youth supervision, direct communications, transportation, training, incident documentation, and escalation procedures are not presented here as adopted safeguards.
These areas will be reviewed before youth programming expands, and this page will be updated when formal requirements are approved.
Report an urgent concern
The Foundation email is not an emergency or abuse-reporting service. If a child is in immediate danger, call 911. To report suspected child abuse or neglect in Maryland, call 1-800-91-PREVENT (1-800-917-7383).
Non-emergency safeguarding questions
For an administrative or policy question, email the Foundation with the subject “Safeguarding concern.” Do not include a child's medical, educational, performance, or other sensitive details in an initial email.
